New Dawn, New Day – Dark Prints

New Dawn, New Day – Dark Prints

This is my first post in 2018. I have been missing in action for so long. All I can say is ” New Dawn, New Day” and time to put in the work in every area of my life. I have no new year resolutions because I realized I never follow them through and yes i’m tired of those. I need to rediscover myself this year and I started reading. I am obsessed with movies, I can literally stay indoors and watch movies all day but I decided to focus my energy on other adventures like reading a book each week (mind you it’s not a resolution).

I just finished the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho and I have to say I really enjoyed it. In the book he said and I quote ” Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none his or her own”. This statement hit me so hard because I am guilty of this and now reality has hit me and I have to figure out how to lead my own life. I will say I am on that journey of rediscovering myself and figuring out what I truly want out of life. I am on the path because I am doing one of the things I love the most (i.e blogging) and trying to discover new things. If you have read this book too, please share your review.

In my quest of discovering new things, I am visiting the Dark Table tomorrow. A little background about the place; like the name implies, dark table specializes in serving up culinary adventures that will allow your senses of smell, taste and touch guide you. So the idea is to rid yourself from distraction and focus your attention on smell and taste. Oh by the way, food is served by visually impaired guide servers, I am so looking forward to this and you can check out my instagram stories on Tuesday night for my review.

Still on the path, let’s focus on the business of the day, Dark Prints. Sometime in August 2017, I started paying attention to the fashion colour trend report to get inspiration for my blog and aesthetics for my instagram page. This year there are so many colour shades I am excited to play with and yes, for this winter 2018 dark prints is one of the IT trends. So for my own take on dark prints; I decided to go with a blazer set, the little black tie detail on the side of the sleeve is absolutely impressive. The high waisted pants with the buckle detail is one of my favourite; you know why, it’s because I can cinch my waist :). I paired this look with a black scrappy cami, black velvet and silk petal appliqu├ęs and a bucket bag. Just so you know, the shoes and blazer set are currently on sale.
