First, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for reading my previous post. for liking my picture on Instagram and for leaving me nice comments. I was so excited for the pastel heaven series and it’s a great feeling to know you loved the mint look. If you don’t know what I’m talking about click here.
Today is International Women’s Day. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The theme this year is #PressforProgress.
When I was thinking about what content to put out there for International Women’s Day, I said to myself, what do you have to say? Growing up my parents gave me everything I ever needed emotionally and financially. They sent me to the best schools and made me feel special each and every day. One thing I was never prepared for was the turbulences of life as a grown woman. Every time I have a conversation with either my family or a friend, they always utter the same words: YOU ARE A STRONG WOMAN. What do they see that I can’t see to say such words. Different waves of emotions come over me and I try to believe these words but sometimes I can’t. Who is a strong woman? A woman whose tears have said to her, I can’t anymore! or her thoughts keep leading her to a dark place and she’s sinking into a bigger worm hole each day. A woman who has never failed at anything and now feels like a failure.
Each day I remind myself with positive affirmations that I will rise through all storms I face and yes, it’s not an overnight journey but a journey of self-discovery. It’s so funny that even though we come from different races, backgrounds and cultures, we as WOMEN have something in common. We go through different storms and when we share, it feels like someone is narrating your story or sounds similar to your story. We live in a digital world and everything might seem perfect on the outside but inside our minds are battling different thoughts.
I hardly share anything personal on my post but as I write this, I feel a sense of relief sharing this with you. I press for progress in my journey of self and hope that someone reading this realizes you are not alone and you will overcome whatever challenges/storms you are facing. Today, I ask you to share #HerStoryOurStory!
On a lighter note, another pastel colour to brighten someone’s day. I love two pieces and when I came across this dusty blue I knew I wanted it to be part of my pastel heaven series. My photographer definitely is pushing me out of my comfort zone and said let’s go to the grocery store for the photoshoot. I was like, hmm I don’t know about that but I am happy I agreed.
Hope you enjoy your day:)
